Pre-owned refurbished Instruments
At MS Vision we also sell and buy pre-owned lab equipment, in particular mass spectrometry systems from Waters, Thermo Fisher and Sciex. Whether you are looking for a high resolution mass spec system or a new triplequad/QqQ/Qtrap for quantitation: all our systems are checked and refurbished in-house, specified at manufacturers specifications and shipped and installed by specialized movers and our own experienced service specialist. Every system comes with installation and a 3 months warranty, longer warranties are available on request as well.
Buying a used LC-MS- or mass spectrometry system has several advantages:
Apart from being more eco friendly, our pre-owned mass spectrometer offer you a much better return of investment due to lower purchasing costs than new systems. As these systems are also proven in their usage, you can easily find established methods, the software compatibility to your existing instruments is ensured and the shortcomings of a particular model are already known.
Currently available pre-owned systems:
All our instruments are sold including shipment, installation and three months warranty. Longer warranty is available on request. If you need items such as nitrogen generators, instrument benches or noise insulations please let us know and we can check whether we have something suitable for you.
The SYNAPT G2-S incorporates both high-sensitivity Waters StepWave™ ion transfer optics and Triwave® ion mobility technologies along with a suite of new informatics tools to take qualitative and quantitative high resolution performance to a new level.
SYNAPT G2-S provides a 30X improvement in signal intensity for mass spectral peaks, better than a 5X improvement in signal-to-noise, and up to a 10-fold improvement in limits of quantitation over previous-generation mass spectrometers. The significant increase in sensitivity, together with the unrivalled selectivity and analytical peak capacity made possible by ion mobility separations, allows the SYNAPT G2-S to identify and quantify sample analytes at lower concentrations than any other high resolution mass spectrometer and easily and routinely reveal details about complex samples that were previously difficult or impossible to obtain.
StepWave ion-transfer optics technology employs a revolutionary off-axis design for dramatically increasing the efficiency of ion transfer from the ion source to the MS analyzer, while at the same time actively eliminating undesirable neutral contaminants. The resulting sensitivity improvement is critical, for example, in metabolite identification where the goal is to find, identify and quantify all metabolites in a sample.
The instrument is equipped with a 4k quadrupole and currently installed and running in our lab in Almere.

The Waters Xevo QTOF G2-XS mass spectrometer is a new high-performance benchtop quadrupole time-of-flight (QTof) mass spectrometer. Featuring the new XS Collision Cell, the Xevo G2-XS QTof stands alone among its peers in offering uncompromised analytical sensitivity and selectivity in a benchtop QTof mass spectrometer. The Xevo G2-XS QTof mass spectrometer combines the new XS Collision Cell with the proven, signature technologies of Tof-MRM, StepWave, and QuanTof to deliver optimum levels of robust sensitivity and selectivity, resulting in the detection of more low-level compounds than ever before. For targeted quantitative experiments, Tof-MRM mode delivers a 10-fold improvement in signal-to-noise when compared with full scan mode, resulting in limits of detection and quantification that completely redefine expectations for a benchtop high-resolution mass spectrometer.
The instrument has a new PC and a new scroll pump and is currently installed at a customer site and will be collected in October 2024.

Why buying used mass spectrometers from MS Vision?
When buying a pre-owned mass spectrometer from MS Vision, you’ll get much more than just a box. Our approach is to sell quality.
What does this mean?
It means we take care of everything. You buy the system and get it delivered, installed on site, if necessary you can get a familiarization and we also take care of warranty and after sales support. We always sell a package of shipment, installation and warranty as we genuinely believe into the equipment we sell and we do not want to leave you alone with any issues potentially arising after installation. And we will not sell you an instrument for which we cannot provide the full range of support! That also means we only handle used mass spectrometers and complete LC-MS systems from Waters, Sciex and ThermoFisher. No Bruker, Agilent or Shimadzu mass spec systems, no ICP-MS, no GC-MS, no MALDI-MS. All the pre-owned systems we sell are fully supported by us and usually located in Europe as we exclusively operate in Europe.
That also means that our prices sometimes are higher when you compare it to deals on Ebay or bidding platforms. However, there you often bid on instruments in US or Asia. So bringing these instruments to Europe means you pay a couple of thousand Euros for transportation, ~20%VAT and you have to take care of installation (usually another few thousand Euros). These additional costs can add up to 20-25 k€ for a 50 k€ instrument and suddenly the deal is not that great anymore. When buying from MS Vision you know the costs upfront. And warranty from a dealer in US or China? Usually not. If something doesn’t work you’re on your own. In addition, mass spectrometers are often categorized as so-called dual use items. That means for export, in particular form US, there is a lot of paperwork involved including end-user certificates, etc. Do you want to risk all that with a 50-200k€ investment?
For buying systems, we are currently primarily interested in the following models of used mass spectrometers or complete LC-MS systems:
Waters:
- Synapt G2/G2-S/G2-Si
- Xevo TQ-S/TQ-XS
Sciex:
- 5500 QT/API
- 6500 QT/API
- 6500+ QT/API
ThermoFisher:
- Q Exactive classic/plus/HF
- We are not buying or selling LTQ Orbitrap classic/focus/Velos/Velos Pro instruments anymore! These systems turned out to be to unstable once decomissioned and re-installed. However, we are fully supporting running systems for the foreseeable future. LTQ Orbitrap Elite systems are sometimes bought as spare parts donors.
